Welcome to the official website of the Hardeman County Democratic Party! We are the party of the big tent---the party of the common man. Democrats are made up of people from every walk of life from doctors, lawyers and ministers to street sweepers. You see us everywhere-- at work, at the store, at places of worship, and at the ballpark. We are a truly diverse party –we welcome all people regardless of race, color, ethnic group, gender, religious preference, or lifestyle. We will never use our differences to divide or to condemn, but we embrace the differences that make each of us unique in the eyes of our Maker and we find common ground upon which to build.

We believe the Constitution guarantees each and every American the right “to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. We also believe that our government is “by the people, for the people, and of the people”, and to that end we hold our government leaders accountable to the people. We believe our government has a moral obligation to help those who cannot help themselves.

We Democrats believe in a consistent ethic of life. We respect and promote all life, whether an unborn child, a learning-disabled student, a pregnant teen, a worker in an unsafe factory, a family living in a car, a homeless mental patient, an elderly woman with astronomical drug bills who has to make a choice between medication and food, a man dying of AIDS, or a victim of a carelessly stored gun.

We welcome a free exchange of ideas. We will never bar someone that disagrees with us, or feel that that person is unpatriotic or an enemy who needs to be destroyed.

The Democratic Party believes that every voter should vote according to his best interests, and that every vote should be counted, and accounted for.

Additionally, we believe in the American worker and his need to earn a decent wage. We feel that the hemorrhaging of American jobs to overseas tax havens is a travesty, and we promote a fair balance of trade. We take pride in promoting products “Made in America”.

We believe in a strong defense and we believe in taking care of our veterans during the fighting AND when they return home.

To put it very simply the aim of the Democratic Party is to promote a progressive agenda, which returns the country back to the people who built it, where the voices of all are heard and the needs of all are taken into consideration.
